SAIBC 2025 HYBRID: ON STAGE OR ONLINE INFORMATION

GUIDELINES:

 

ORIGINAL CATEGORIES:

​

  • 1 classical repertoire solo OR 1 classical pas de deux.

  • AND 1 contemporary solo (2 minutes) OR contemporary pas de deux (3 minutes)

    • Please note in these Categories, Males and females will be judged as individuals, even if doing a pas de deux.

 

ADDITIONAL CATEGORIES

 

  • Ballet and Contemporary DUET

  •  i.e., male and male or female and female, or male and female. (Judged as individuals)

  • Time allowed: 2 Minutes and 30 seconds maximum, with 10 seconds grace

  • Age sections apply (see below)

  • Additional fees apply (see fees below)

 

  • Ballet and Contemporary TRIOS and QUARTETS

  • Judged as one dance

  • 2 Minutes and 30 seconds, with 10 second grace

  • Age sections apply (see below)

  • Additional fees apply (see fees below)

 

  • Ballet and Contemporary SMALL GROUPS

  • 5 to 9 Dancers maximum

  • Judged as a group, no age limits

  • 3 minutes maximum

  • No age limits

  • Additional fees apply (see fees below)

 

  • Ballet and Contemporary LARGE GROUPS

  • 10 or more Dancers

  • Judged as a group

  • 3 minutes maximum

  • No age limits

  • Additional fees apply (see fees below)

 

NB: PLEASE NOTE AUDITION VIDEOS TO BE SUBMITTED FOR ALL CATEGORIES BY THE 1 JULY 2022

Accepted candidates will be notified to proceed with entry. Therefore, the earlier you submit your video and registration the earlier you will receive your feedback on acceptance:

 

AGES/AGE ON 1 JULY 2025 : (Original Ballet Repertoire, Contemporary solo & pas de deux, as well as new categories: Duets, Trios & Quartets)

  • Novice 6 -8 (Africa Only)

  • Scholars – 9 to 11 years (All Countries)

  • Juniors – 12 to 15 years (All Countries)

  • Seniors – 16 to 19 years (All Countries)

  • In the duets, trios and quartets the entrants will compete in the age group of the oldest competitor.

 

  • VIDEO & SOUND:

  • If no access to a studio, participants may submit a contemporary solo only, filmed at any place.

  • Videos must be filmed from the front and in one take from start to finish and without any splicing or altering.

  • Video to be filmed IN A STUDIO OR ON A STAGE.

  • Competition videos are acceptable as long as they show NO OTHER COMPETITION BRANDING on the video.

  • Video quality and formatting:

  • Up to 1080p, anything below is also acceptable.

  • Size: Up to 1GB, anything above that and the video clips must be uploaded in parts, or the quality should be reduced.

  • Format: The following formats are supported:

  • (.mp4 only)

  • LIVE/ON STAGE entries, (mp3 music only)

  • Videos must be clearly marked with the participant/s name/s, title of work and date recorded:

  • Name, Surname, Title of Work, Recorded date.

  • The Jury's decisions will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

  • Non-participating partners permitted. All partners are required to submit their own entry.

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATION DOCUMENTATION AND FEE:  1 July 2025

ENTRY FEE ORIGINAL CATEGORY: Scholars/Juniors/Seniors: $150 for international participants & R1200 for African participants. (Per participant)

ENTRY FEE ADDITIONAL CATEGORIES: Duets/Trios/Quartets, Small Groups & Large Groups:

$15 for international entries per dancer or R200 African entries per dancer.

ENTRY FEE: Novice: R400 for Africa and 30 US$ for the rest of the world.

  • Please type or print responses in all sections of the Application Form. (Entries open soon)

  • Failure to provide all the required information as well as a correctly signed Application Form, could result in applications being disregarded.

  • The SAIBC reserves the right to determine which applicants are accepted.

  • Successful applicants will be notified via email of the SAIBC’s decision.

  • NB! Please provide one headshot and one dance photo with your entry form.
