Dirk Badenhorst is a major player in the South African ballet and dance, having served as a founding member and the first CEO of the South African Ballet Theatre.

Now Director of Mzansi Ballet and the SAIBC, Mr Badenhorst has served on numerous high-level ballet competition jury panels world-wide, such as Shanghai IBC, Benoise IBC, VKIBC, Sochi International, The Cuban IBC, the Seoul IBC just to name a few.

With strong ties to the international Ballet community and especially the Cuban embassy, Mr Badenhorst has helped create many initiatives and opportunities for SA dancers and teachers.

The South African International Ballet Competition, CuDanSA – The Cuban ballet method in SA, International Ballet Intensives – Bringing knowledgeable teachers from across the globe to SA, Training Teachers in Townships – Increasing our teachers knowledge base for the betterment of the art, Mzansi Ballet – Ballet Company etc.

In 2020 Mr Dirk Badenhorst celebrated 30 years of involvement in & commitment to South African Ballet.
