The 7th South African International Ballet Competition 2020 #SAIBConline #SAIBC #SAIBC2020

The 2020 SAIBC Online is a multi-faceted event open to subscribers. Aside from daily online master classes, the competition itself, viewers will also be able to virtually attend series of live panel discussions with the jury, guest teachers and directors that will cover a number of interesting topics, and participate in a Q&A sessions after each one.  

PANEL DISCUSSION - open to view (at no cost) to competitors, dancers, coaches, teachers, parents & the public 

 

FOCUS: BALLET SCHOOLS - Tuesday 14 July

A one hour panel discussion focusing on ballet school criteria, chaired by Runqiao Du (Kirov Academy of Ballet, Washington DC).

Attended by Annarella Sanchez (Annarella Institute f Ballet & Dance, Portugal), Marta Iris Fernandez Aguero (Deputy Director of the National Ballet School of Cuba, Havana), Christian Tatchev (Queensland Ballet Academy), Roberta Martins (Zurich Dance Academy, Switzerland) and Christoph Bohm (Berlin State Ballet School, Germany).

  • What are the deciding factors when it comes to choosing solos or pas de deux for your competitors?

  • What do you think of when choosing a particular version of a variation or pas de deux for your dancers?

  • Thoughts around costumes?

A one hour panel discussion with the ballet company Directors, to be chaired by Ted Brandsen (Artistic Director, Dutch National Ballet) Attended by Tamara Rojo (English National Ballet), Madame Feng Ying, Professor Kim (South Korea), Aurelian Scanella (Artistic Director, West Australian Ballet), and
Julio Bocca (Former Artistic Director, Blalet Nacional Sodre in Uruguay)
